Lokahi Music in the Schools Program embraces the Hawaiian spirit of harmony and balance, raising awareness of teen bullying; its impacts on mental health and suicide ideation. Through the power of music and education, Lokahi challenges isolation and dissolves boundaries, uniting Kauai’s youth and families.
Music in the schools
In 2024, Lokahi reached over 2,000 students with performances by Hawaiian-infused reggae band The Vitals 808 at Kapa’a and Kaua’i high schools.
Lokahi 2025
March 6th and 7th, Lokahi will reach every high school student on Kaua’i with returns to Kapa’a and Kaua’i high schools, and additional concerts at Waimea high school and Island School. All high school age students from charter schools, vocational programs and academies will attend the concerts as honored guests. Additionally, Lokahi 2025 brings Hawaiian Grammy Award winning musician, John Cruz to Hanalei School.
Lokahi 2025 incorporates two family friendly ticketed events at Anaina Hou Community Park’s Porter Pavilion. The concerts on Saturday and Sunday, March 8th and 9th feature John Cruz, Soulgood Family Band, and the Vitals 808, bringing together our island Ohana while raising further awareness and needed funding to sustain Lokahi into the future.
